In less than a month i will be at the ACE Convention.
The ACE Convention is a competition where our school (UCA) goes to Bowling Green for a week and competes with other schools for stuff in Athletics, Music, Smarts (don't know what it's really called), Art, and something else i can't remember! It's supposed to be really fun! This will be my first year so i'll see how it all is!
The downsides. #1: Us girls have to wear skirts below our knees and shirts up to our collarbone all week long (excluding at the hotel, of course. it would be weird sleeping in skirts!). #2: There is to be maintained a 6-inch distance between the girls and boys at all times, even if it is brother and sister (so what, are the sponsors gonna be walking around with measuring sticks, making sure we don't break that boundary?). #3: I HAVE to wear high heels for all performances. So on the music day, my feet will be killing me since i have like 4 performances in music! And last but MOST CERTAINLY not least #4: For all the athletic competitions, the girls are to wear culottes. -_- if you don't know what those are, they're like skirt/pants. ugh.
There are many upsides, though! No parents for a week, good awesome food, free bowling at the campus, and all this other cool stuff! Plus i'll be with my friends all week long!!!...Although that could be a good or bad thing. After a while of being with friends (minimum of 3 days) they get quite annoying, I know from past experiences. Not elaborating.
At Convention, so far i'm gonna do the Large Ensemble (big school choir), Small Ensemble (smaller choir), a Female Quartet (with Ashley, Naomi, and Ali), a Mixed Quartet (with Ellen, Ben, and JP), i'm entering something in for drawing, and i'm doing 3-person volleyball with K-Bob and David A. Lots of stuff!
So anyways, i'm looking forward to Convention!!! I think it'll be an awesome week! :]
Sincerely,
Jo
I really really really hope to come see ya'll! If not I will be utterly sad to not get to hear from you for a whole week, even if you are having the time of your life! Also, I really liked your comments on all of the strictyness....LAME. But oh well, them homeschoolers I tell ya! ;) Just kidding. I love you Thirstin! TTYsoon!
