So as i previously spoke of in yesterday's entry, today was the 5k race. I should just state now that last night as i was going to bed, my chest started hurting every time i took a deep breath. I just thought it would be gone in the morning. It wasn't. This morning i was rudely woken up by my father and i was grumpy until the race began. I ran with my Dad, my Mom, and my Mom's friend, Stacey.
So we got there an hour early to register and all that, and it was FREEZING! My hands and toes were literally numb even before the race started! I warmed up, stretched, and was ready to start running! The plan originally was that i would run next to my Dad because my Mom was gonna run/walk with her friend!
So i was all ready, standing next to my Dad, when they said "Ready, get set, go!" So off i sprinted (first mistake)! I sprinted for about 1/4 of a mile before i slowed down and my Dad caught up to me. I was still going at a light jog before my chest started hurting from taking deep breaths. My stomach started hurting a little too, so i just told Dad to go on without me, and i started walking for a little bit.
I thought my Mom and Stacey were way behind me when all of a sudden i turn around and they were almost right next to me! In my mind i was thinking, oh great. if they pass me i'm gonna feel so stupid! . So i stayed with them for about a lap (each lap was 1 1/4 of a mile i think) before i couldn't keep up with them anymore!
By then i was feeling like i was gonna puke and i thought i would just keel over dead right then and there! So i walked then ran then walked then ran off and on for a while. At the time, i had no clue how many laps i was supposed to be going! So i ran and caught up to this 30-ish looking lady and asked how many we were supposed to do, and to my great surprise, i found out that i was on the last one!
So after walking up that blasted hill, i jogged until i found my Dad waiting to run with me the rest of the way to the finish line! We jogged together until about 0.2 miles away (i'm guessing that much) from the finish line before i sprinted to it. I felt so proud of myself for actually finishing it because on the beginning of that last lap i was so close to just walking up to the workers and saying that i couldn't finish it!
My Mom and Stacey were waiting there for me and i felt just about dead! I was supposed to fill out some little card and when i went to write my name and stuff on it, my hands were shaking so much i had to wait about a minute until they stopped shaking! lol!
So all in all it was a pretty good experience, though i do not wish to do that again any time soon!
Sincerely,
Jo
